The European Congress of Radiology, ECR 2010, was held March 4-8th in Vienna. At the Congress, research results for heart indications using SharpView® CT image enhancement software was presented. The study is a pilot by Jakob de Geer, MD, from Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization, CMIV, at Linköping University.
The purpose of the study was to investigate whether the application of a 2-D, non-linear noise reduction filter (SharpView CT) can improve image quality in cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA).The results of the study show improved image quality for heart images using SharpView CT image enhancement software.
The results was presented at ECR in Poster C-0496, "Scientific and Educational Exhibits".
SharpView CT image enhancement software helps to avoid noise and blurred structures and was installed in clinical use at CMIV who has optimized the dose and made a 30 percent dose reduction for heart examinations. To further investigate the lowest dose possible for heart indications, CMIV together with Dr. Mannudeep Kalra, guest professor at CMIV and Associate Professor at Massachusetts General Hospital, have started an extensive study at the Linköping University. This study aims to establish lowest dose possible for CT examinations of the heart using SharpView CT image enhancement software.
SharpView continues the documentation of SharpView CT image enhancement software. At the moment results for abdomen, thorax and brain are available. Most of them you can find on
www.sharpview.com.
The
technical exhibition opened on Friday. March 5th. This year SharpView did not exhibit but all interested within medical image enhancement, was very welcome to visit the booth of our partner company
